Dóchas Conference 2018 - 'Engaging the Public in a Conversation about International Development'

3 Thu, May 11:00 AM to 3 Thu, May 05:00 PM

“Our citizens are anxious for a vision of where we are heading as a society. Too many of them live in an atmosphere of unabated stress, dealing with financial circumstances that curtail their horizons and constrict them to a regime that is one of survival.”

- President of Ireland Michael D. Higgins

The Dóchas Conference 2018 will revolve around the theme of 'Engaging the Public in a Conversation about International Development.'

As Irish civil society, committed to involving and engaging Irish citizens in the fight against global poverty, inequality and injustice, we need to seek ways to reimagine the role and relevance of international development for the ‘Global Island’ of Ireland today. Join us as we shape a vision of international development that resonates for the Irish public.

We will imagine, develop and promote a stronger collective vision for the international development sector. We will seek solutions to counter the distrust and disengagement by the public in Ireland and globally. And we will seek to challenge the shrinking space for civil society to speak out to shape pro-poor policy making.
