DÓCHAS ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Dóchas is proud to announce the appointment of Suzanne Keatinge as its new Chief Executive Officer. Suzanne Keatinge will lead the umbrella body which is comprised of over sixty non-governmental development organisations and will assume the role in February 2016.

Announcing the appointment, Chairperson of Dóchas, Sharan Kelly of Tearfund Ireland said, ‘We are very pleased today to announce Suzanne Keatinge as the new CEO of Dóchas. Suzanne has extensive experience working in the International Development sector with a very strong background in policy, programmes and human rights. At this pivotal time where a new global agenda has been set for sustainable development, Dóchas will continue to play a key role in connecting organisations across the sector to continue Ireland's proud contribution to global development.’

Suzanne Keatinge is an experienced international development practitioner and senior manager, with over fifteen years’ experience in the sector and an impressive career path to date. She currently holds the position of Head of Programmes with Plan International Ireland. Prior to that, Suzanne spent ten years with Trócaire, serving as Regional Manager for Asia, with a focus on governance, gender and humanitarian programming in Myanmar, Cambodia, Timor-Leste, India and Pakistan. Keatinge also previously worked for the United Nations in Iran and Somalia. She holds a Master’s Degree in African Politics from SOAS University of London and a Master’s Degree in History from Cambridge University.

In accepting the new position Suzanne Keatinge said, 'I am delighted to have been chosen as Dóchas' new CEO and am proud to be soon leading this dynamic organisation on behalf of its members. I am very much looking forward to working with the Board, staff team, Dóchas members, Irish Aid and the sector as a whole. It is a very exciting time for the international development sector and for Dóchas as we embark on a new strategy that through collaborative working helps to shape and increase the impact of Ireland's contribution to global development and justice.'

The Dóchas membership wishes to congratulate Suzanne on her new position and looks forward to working with her in the years to come as the sector strives towards the shared goals of the alleviation of poverty and the pursuit of equality and global justice.
