Irish development NGOs have a vision of how society could be, and we work to create a world where justice, equality, solidarity and respect for human rights are the norm.
Our work is driven by the belief that our support for people and organisations in developing countries can bring about real and positive change.Through Dóchas, Irish development NGOs, humanitarian organisations and global justice organisations come together to share experiences, and to use those experiences to advance more effective ways to end all forms of poverty and injustice.
What We Do
Dóchas focuses on the following activities as part of it strategic plan in order to ensure the impact and effectiveness of overseas development work:
We articulate NGO views regarding development effectiveness principles and then make these views available as expertise resources on our website;
Through our working groups we share experiences of development practices that really work;
Through our good practice Codes we set professional standards of excellence for development and humaitarian work;
By providing learning structures and resources we ensure that our members have access to the latest information related to their work.
