(1) MEMBERS ONLY EVENT: Worldview Fourth Annual Results Launch - 19 March 

Dóchas is pleased to invite members to join us in-person on Tuesday 19 March from 1.30-4.00pm for the Fourth Annual Worldview Results Launch. Location: Dublin city centre.

The session will focus on examining the fourth wave of Worldview data from 2023 and will be followed by an expert panel discussion, more details of which can be found here.

A light lunch will be served before the event from 1.30pm with the event starting at 2pm sharp. Places for this event are limited so please share with colleagues in your organisations and register your attendance by 14 March with Laura(at)dochas.ie

Climate change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment. At this year’s conference, we will explore climate adaptation, anticipatory action, and how we can work together towards a just transition.

(6) Administration and Fundraising Support Officer: The Irish Emergency Alliance

The Irish Emergency Alliance is a joint appeals mechanism where Irish humanitarian organisations agree to consolidate our fundraising efforts, demonstrating to the public that we can work together and reduce our administrative and fundraising costs. To date, the Irish Emergency Alliance has collectively raised over €6.65million from its first four appeals (Coronavirus, September 2020; Ukraine, March 2022; Horn of Africa Hunger, September 2022; and Syria-Turkey Earthquake, February 2023). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced administrative and fundraising officer to join the dynamic and highly-motivated team. It is a full-time, two-year fixed-term contract. (7) Senior Protection Associate: UNHCR (Ireland)

UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency is recruiting a Senior Protection Associate to work from its Dublin office. The successful candidate will support the protection determination systems in Ireland as part of a quality initiative project involving the conduct of regular quality assurance reviews and the development and delivery of training. The candidate will assist with protection casework management, the delivery of outreach information sessions to accommodation centres and will support the development of resettlement and complementary pathways, including monitoring the implementation of Ireland’s resettlement commitments and assisting in resettlement missions. GOAL’s NextGen Youth Programme brings together young people from all over the world to better understand global justice issues and deepen their understanding of Global Citizenship. (3) Justice Based Approach Foundation Course: United Edge - April-May 2024

United Edge’s flagship course is a call to action for change-makers and leaders in the humanitarian and development sectors to challenge current narratives - and practice - of international aid and is relevant for staff at every level in any department. (1) STAND Changemakers Academy Showcase – 22 March

You are invited to the Showcase of the STAND Changemakers Academy on 22nd March from 3pm until 5pm in Richmond Barracks, Off Bulfin Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8. STAND is excited to announce and invite you to the Showcase of the inaugural year of the STAND Changemakers Academy. Over the past five months, 22 participants from 16 countries have thrown themselves into the creation of a global community of advocates, activists and changemakers through STAND's new Academy. Come to celebrate and be part of this community, hear about participants' journeys and learn about the creative solutions that have emerged in partnership with Concern Worldwide, Black and Irish, Slí Waterford and Amnesty International. (3) April Leadership Academy Breakfast Club: Making Change: The Wheel - 11 April

The next Breakfast Club will take place in-person in Salesforce Tower in Dublin city on Thursday 11 April 2024 at 10am (registration from 9.30am) on the Leadership topic of Making Change. Every day we engage in different systems, educational, welfare, health... but what happens when you see something in a system that you would like to change? To answer this question and to discuss how they are engaging in affecting change, April’s Breakfast Club is delighted to welcome two speakers: Ailbhe Smyth, Activist, Campaigner and Strategy Specialist and Colette Bennett, Director of Advocacy and Research for The Wheel. As always, there will be a 45-minute chat with the speakers moderated by Leadership Academy Manager Sharon Hughes, followed by 45-minute facilitated roundtables to meet your peers and discuss what you heard. There will be tea, coffee and pastries available, and the event is free! You just have to register here

(1) The Irish Red Cross is calling for nominations for the 2024 Humanitarian Awards: Good Deeds Matter

The Irish Red Cross Humanitarian Awards shine a spotlight on those in our community who have worked tirelessly in support of those in need. In the face of the many domestic and international challenges confronting millions of people across the globe, there are countless people and organisations who have responded – generously offering support to those in need and seeking solutions to many of the world’s biggest issues. The Irish Red Cross believes it to be imperative that these individuals and organisations are publicly recognized so that they can serve as an inspiration for others to do the same.

(2) Horsehair Wigs Podcast - Irish Rule of Law International

For the latest episode of Irish Rule of Law International’s monthly podcast Horse Hair Wigs, award-winning journalist Evelyn McClafferty sat down with human rights and social justice lawyer Sarai Chisala-Templehoff. In this latest episode, Sarai discusses her ongoing work with the Gender and Justice Unit in Malawi. As the founder, she leads the organisation in educating women on their legal rights in a country that remains deeply patriarchal. Much of the work that Sarai does revolves around women’s access to justice through working with partners such as Irish rule of Law International, providing support and responding to legal gaps. Listen here

(3) Are you a Climate Hero? Community Climate Challenge Competition: Global Action Plan

Climate Heroes is a good-natured, carbon-saving competition from Global Action Plan. Between the 15th and 26th of April, all kinds of community groups across Ireland will log planet-friendly actions and compete to have the biggest carbon footprint reduction. Weekly webinars in the run-up will shine a light on the big picture and offer a space for knowledge-sharing and connection. Participation is free. Because everyone can be a Climate Hero! This project is supported by Irish Aid’s Global Citizenship Education funding. Find out more.

(4) Shared office space available, ideal for maximum 8 people organisation: ActionAid Ireland

ActionAid Ireland is currently looking for a tenant to co-share our office space at 172 Ivy Exchange, Granby Place, off Parnell Square. 

Due to our current hybrid working arrangement, ActionAid Ireland staff are only in the office space on two days each week.  We are therefore seeking a tenant to sublet the space to, 5 days per week. This is a generous office space over two floors with a meeting room, as well as kitchen space and a downstairs bathroom.  The office is in a very central location on the Northside of Dublin with handy access to the Luas and short walking distance from Connolly Station. This would suit a smaller business as the office space would be able to host an additional 8 people to our current staff team.

(5) Policy and Practice Issue 39 Call for Contributors: Global Centre for Global Education

The Centre for Global Education invites contributions to Issue 39 (Autumn 2024) of its bi-annual journal, Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review, which is on the theme Development Education Silences.  Authors interested in submitting an article should complete an article submission form by Monday, 1 April 2024.  The deadline for commissioned articles is Friday, 5 July 2024. Find out more
