Dóchas holds political briefing in the Dáil
Briefing updated politicians on our network's Lives On The Line campaign
24 Sep 2025
Dóchas held a political briefing at the Dáil to update politicians to update them on our Lives On The Line campaign highlighting the importance of ODA ahead of Budget 2026.
As the impact of the aid cuts by the US, UK and other European countries becomes more evident, Irish Humanitarian and Development organisations are coming together to highlight the importance and impact of Ireland’s Overseas Aid. Cuts cost lives, and it is more important than ever that Ireland steps up and leads in this time of crisis.
Lives are on the Line, and while other countries step back Ireland must press forward. Ireland must increase its Official Development Assistance (ODA) in Budget 2026, as laid out in the Programme for Government.
Dóchas were represented at the briefing by:
- Réiseal Ní Chéilleachair, Director of Strategy, Advocacy and Learning at Concern Worldwide
- John Rynne, Regional Director for Africa at GOAL
- Feargal O'Connell, CEO of Plan International Ireland
- Siobhan Curran, Head of Policy and Advocacy, Trócaire
- Brid McGrath, Director of Advocacy, Oxfam Ireland
