(1) Afri: Annual Famine Walk - 17 May
Join Afri on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, in Louisburgh, Co. Mayo, for the annual Doolough Famine Walk, a poignant journey of remembrance, solidarity, and commitment to action. This year's theme, Sowing Seeds of Change in Remembrance and Solidarity, calls on us to honour the lives needlessly lost during An Gorta Mór—the Great Hunger—by confronting the enduring injustices of our time in solidarity with communities affected today. (2) Concern Worldwide: Voices for Change: the Concern Debates 40th Anniversary Conference - 21 May
Join us at the Minerva Suite, RDS, as we celebrate 40 years of impactful debating and explore the role of dialogue in building connection and understanding in an increasingly divided world. Through thought-provoking discussions and practical reflection, we'll dive into how to create spaces where tough topics can be tackled openly, respectfully and with a shared commitment to understanding. (3) Burma Action Ireland: Burma’s Peacock Film Festival in Dublin - 21 May
Burma Action Ireland in collaboration with Democratic Voice of Burma will host Burma’s Peacock Film Festival in Dublin this May. The film festival was initiated by DVB in order to provide citizen journalists and professional filmmakers from Burma a platform to promote messages about their country to a worldwide audience, through the medium of documentary short films. (4) SafeBirth4All: Conference - 21 May
The SafeBirth4All Conference will take place on 21st May 2025 at Carmelite Community Centre on Aungier St in Dublin 2 between 10-1pm. Keynote speakers are Shane Duffy MD, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in London and Eva Kyenyi, a fistula survivor and advocate. Please register here.

(1) Comhlámh and the Centre for Global Education: Decolonising Economic Development: The Role of the Development Sector - 10 June
Comhlámh and CGE invite participation in this online seminar, which will debate the findings of a research report titled Decolonising Economic Development: The Role of the Development Sector study carried out by academics Surbhi Kesar (SOAS University, London) and Ingrid Harvold Kvangraven (King’s Cross College, London). This research assessed the extent to which international non-governmental organisations (INGOs) in the UK are ‘governing the poor’ through Eurocentric interventions, and challenging existing economic processes and institutions that contribute to underdevelopment for some and development for others. The research was based on analysis of INGOs affiliated to Bond, the UK network for organisations working in international development. Register on Eventbrite here.
(2) CGE and DICE: ''Development Education and Class'' Seminar - 22 May
Join the Centre for Global Education & Development and Inter-cultural Education (DICE) Project for an online seminar that will debate the content of Issue 40 of the journal Policy and Practice: A Development Education Review which is on the theme “Development Education and Class”. The speakers are: Abdellatif Atif (Postdoctoral researcher, NUI Galway); Audrey Bryan (Professor of Sociology, DCU Institute of Education); Sally Daly (Capacity Development and Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, NYCI); and Aoife Titley (Chair) (Lecturer, Maynooth University & DICE). (6) Information Outreach Coordinator – Migration Programme - 22 May
The Information and Outreach function is responsible for maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy, as well as IRC programming, and sharing this information with our key stakeholders – internally and externally. The function is also responsible for promoting the accommodation programme and encouraging engagement from homeowners. Find out more here.
(7) Information and Engagement Officer – Migration Programme - 22 May
The Information and Engagement officer is responsible for preparing information resource materials, relevant to Migration, and engaging with key stakeholders, particularly hosts, who provide accommodation, people who are potential hosts, and guests, who are supported by the programme. Additionally, it is expected the role will support programme teams with policy/technical guidance and the development of information resources materials. Find out more here.
(8) Programme Manager – Integration - 27 May
This Programme Manager will be responsible for leading and managing significant programme areas within the Migration department. Specifically, the role will lead on the integration programming. This currently includes integration activities such as skills and language training for migrants (implemented by sub-contractors and – to a lesser extent directly), signposting and awareness raising to integration supports, and engaging with relevant local stakeholders (such as local authority integration teams and others). (11) Oxfam: Roving Funding Coordinator - 15th May
Oxfam Ireland is currently looking for a Roving Funding Coordinator to join our International Programmes Department. The Roving Funding Coordinator (RFC) will provide support to Oxfam’s teams in the Global North and the Global South across the Funding Cycle. The RFC will coordinate the elaboration and timely submission of both donor reports and project proposals. (1) ACET Ireland: ACET Ireland’s Positive Youth Project Volunteers Wanted - 30 June
We are looking for volunteers to join our team and help with the peer meet-up events for young people living with HIV. Courses and Training
(1) Saolta: Global spACEs - 22 May
Global spACEs is a two-year transformative Global Citizenship Education Programme for Adult & Community Educators from Liberia & Ireland.
Led by DEN-L (Development Education Network - Liberia) and Saolta, participants will engage in immersive learning experiences in Ireland and Liberia, interactive workshops, and peer-led initiatives to deepen their understanding of GCE principles, methodologies, and real-world applications. This dynamic training programme equips educators with tools to address global justice issues, critical thinking, and participatory learning in their teaching and community work. (2) Eurocheck Security: Hostile Environment Course - 7-9 July
Our hostile environment courses are suitable for individuals who are currently working in or are going to work in medium to high-risk areas. They will help to ensure that you keep yourself and those you are working with safer. In addition to the normal security subjects covered in the security awareness courses, this course includes sessions on kidnap, landmines, trauma, sexual assault. The course also includes pre-course reading, exercises and role plays. Our main courses are conducted in Kildare but we can also run short bespoke courses at your own location. We also conduct online hostile environment and security awareness courses. All courses are suitable for NGOs, Charities, journalists, students, human rights workers and volunteers. In Irish Rule of Law International’s (IRLI) new Horsehair Wigs podcast episode, Executive Director, Maria McCloskey dives into the meaning of the rule of law and why it matters.
