(1) Burma Action Ireland:  Burma’s Peacock Film Festival in Dublin - 21 May

Burma Action Ireland in collaboration with Democratic Voice of Burma will host Burma’s Peacock Film Festival in Dublin this May. The film festival was initiated by DVB in order to provide citizen journalists and professional filmmakers from Burma a platform to promote messages about their country to a worldwide audience, through the medium of documentary short films. (7) Information Outreach Coordinator – Migration Programme - 22 May

The Information and Outreach function is responsible for maintaining a strong understanding of relevant legislation and policy, as well as IRC programming, and sharing this information with our key stakeholders – internally and externally. The function is also responsible for promoting the accommodation programme and encouraging engagement from homeowners. Find out more here.

(8) Information and Engagement Officer – Migration Programme - 22 May

The Information and Engagement officer is responsible for preparing information resource materials, relevant to Migration, and engaging with key stakeholders, particularly hosts, who provide accommodation, people who are potential hosts, and guests, who are supported by the programme. Additionally, it is expected the role will support programme teams with policy/technical guidance and the development of information resources materials. Find out more here.

(9) Programme Manager – Integration - 27 May

This Programme Manager will be responsible for leading and managing significant programme areas within the Migration department. Specifically, the role will lead on the integration programming. This currently includes integration activities such as skills and language training for migrants (implemented by sub-contractors and – to a lesser extent directly), signposting and awareness raising to integration supports, and engaging with relevant local stakeholders (such as local authority integration teams and others). Schools of Sanctuary is dedicated to creating inclusive and welcoming schools for students from diverse backgrounds, especially families seeking International Protection. We have strong connections with over 270 schools of which over 50 have been awarded Champion Schools of Sanctuary. We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to join our team as Schools Coordinator for the Midlands, West and North West, who will play a crucial role in growing participation of new schools in our network and supporting those new and existing schools by directly working with teachers to facilitate, include, and integrate students from diverse backgrounds. Internships

(1) Irish Red Cross: International Humanitarian Law Project Intern - 4 June

The main purpose of this internship is to support all IHL related activities of the IRC. The internship will comprise of a number of projects and tasks, decided in conjunction with the International team and on the basis of the needs of the department and the experience, competencies and interests of the intern. In particularly the position offers the opportunity to contribute substantially to the work of Irish Red Cross on International Humanitarian Law. Find out more here.

Courses and Training

(1) Eurocheck Security: Hostile Environment Course - 7-9 July

Our hostile environment courses are suitable for individuals who are currently working in or are going to work in medium to high-risk areas. They will help to ensure that you keep yourself and those you are working with safer. In addition to the normal security subjects covered in the security awareness courses, this course includes sessions on kidnap, landmines, trauma, sexual assault. The course also includes pre-course reading, exercises and role plays. Our main courses are conducted in Kildare but we can also run short bespoke courses at your own location. We also conduct online hostile environment and security awareness courses. All courses are suitable for NGOs, Charities, journalists, students, human rights workers and volunteers. Reduced rates for regular clients and for organisations sending four or more students. Find out more here.

In Irish Rule of Law International’s (IRLI) new Horsehair Wigs podcast episode, Executive Director, Maria McCloskey dives into the meaning of the rule of law and why it matters.
