(2) Social Change Initiative: Briefing on the situation in Syria - 18 June

You are invited to a briefing on the situation in Syria. The event will take place in the SCI offices, 3rd Floor, Wellington House, 2-4 Wellington Street, Belfast. Hanny Megally is a member of the Social Change Initiative Board but is also a member of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Syria. Hanny has more than 45 years of experience in the field of human rights, transitional justice, philanthropy and conflict resolution. He is currently a Distinguished Fellow at New York University’s Center on International Cooperation, focusing on improving justice outcomes for victims/survivors in Syria and other conflict-related countries in the MENA region. (8) International Development Foundation, ILCU: Senior Desk Officer - 14 June

The Senior Desk Officer will be responsible for providing programme coordination and support for the Foundation’s major programme in Sierra Leone, the Credit Union Growth & Sustainability programme. (9) Viatores Christi CLG: Part-time Accountant - 27 June

We’re looking for a qualified and experienced Part-Time Accountant to support the financial management of Viatores Christi, an international development and volunteering organisation. This permanent role is for 1 day per week (7.5 hours) and can be carried out remotely or on a hybrid basis from our office in Phibsborough, Dublin. The role offers a pro rata salary of €10,000 (based on a full-time equivalent of €50,000), along with pension contributions, flexible working hours, and pro rata annual leave (starting at 22 days, increasing with service). Courses and Training

(1) Saolta: Training of Trainers Summer Edition: Peacebuilding in Outdoor Education - 19 June

This hybrid training is free and open to all adult and community educators across the island of Ireland to build their knowledge of, and capacity in, Global Citizenship Education. This Outdoor Summer Edition includes: 3 online sessions, 2 full Experiential Peacebuilding days (in the Wicklow and Mourne Mountains) and individualised coaching and mentoring sessions. (2) Maynooth University: Dr Sinead McGrath Memorial Scholarship Scheme, 2025/26 - 1 September

The Department of International Development, Maynooth University, welcomes applications for a Master's bursary, which is worth €2500 for the winning student.  Interested applicants are invited to submit a CV, a personal statement ( 500 words)  and a short outline (400 words) on their proposed research topic and its place within the theory and practice of international development, or international peacebuilding, to internationaldevelopment(a)mu.ie. (3) Maynooth University: Post-graduate programmes at MU Department of International Development - 30 June

Join us at the Department of International Development, Maynooth University, on our PG and MA programmes, which start in September 2025 (full- or part-time). These include our PG Cert. in Global Citizenship Education, MA in International Development, and our MA in International Peacebuilding, Security and Development Practice. (5) United Edge: 100 fully funded spaces on JBA Foundation Course - 30 June

In response to aid cuts, we've decided to offer 100 fully funded spaces on our flagship Justice Based Approach Foundation Course in September, a global interactive course already taken by 2,500 humanitarians and development workers. JBA offers a practical, radical, and hopeful framework to help teams adapt to today's realities while staying rooted in justice, dignity, and system change. We cover systems thinking, localisation, reimagining aid, and participatory decision-making, as well as ethical leadership, innovation-based programme design, and justice-centred M&E. The course weaves together power and oppression, gender and climate justice, and practical tools for strategic, accountable, and transformative action with plenty of lessons to apply to funding, financing, philanthropy, and sustainable NGO models, too. (1) IRLI: IRLI’s Horsehair Wigs podcast with Aonghus Kelly (EUAM Ukraine) 

In the latest Horsehair Wigs episode, Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI) speak with international human rights lawyer Aonghus Kelly, former head of the International Crimes Legal Unit for EUAM Ukraine. He shares insights on the complex process of international trials and the challenges of holding high-profile figures accountable. Aonghus also explores compensation mechanisms for victims of the Russian invasion, including the Register of Damage and a potential Claims Commission using frozen Russian assets. He raises questions about fairness in international justice and whether geopolitical interests influence outcomes. Listen in full here.

(1) Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade: Shared Island Civic Society Fund Applications Now Open - 27 June

The Shared Island Civic Society Fund is now open for applications from Monday, 26 May 2025 at 9.30am until the final closing date of Friday 27 June 2025 at 11:59pm Dublin Time. Please be aware that this will be the only application round in 2025. If you are planning to apply to the Shared Island Civic Society Fund in 2025, please ensure that you are prepared to submit an application in this upcoming round. Find out more and apply here.

(2) Carmichael : Carmichael opens applications for the Good Governance Awards 2025 - 11 September

Any nonprofit organisation in Ireland, whether a charity, company, sports club or community association, can enter its annual report and financial statements into the Awards for free, and it will receive individual feedback to help improve future annual reports. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in November. Nonprofits with an annual income of less than €100,000 win 1 free place on a training course of their choice for entering the awards and win 2 additional training places if they are shortlisted to win. (3) Irish Global Health Network: IGHN's Restore Humanity Campaign
