(1) Development Perspectives: Change the Story, Change the World - 14 September

Development Perspectives are inviting youth workers, trainers, and volunteers to join us at the beautiful Castle Saunderson International Scout Centre from November 24th to December 1st. Together, we’ll explore how storytelling can be a powerful force to address the root causes of poverty, inequality, and climate change. (2) The Wheel: Leadership Academy Breakfast Club - 18 September

(3) European Movement Ireland: Civil Society Dialogue: Navigating the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union - 15 September

European Movement Ireland is pleased to welcome you to this in-person event, in partnership with The Wheel and Dóchas. (1) Irish Network for Education Worldwide:  "No Battleground: Protecting Education from Attack" online seminar - 9 September

INEW will host an online seminar "No Battleground: Protecting Education from Attack" on Tuesday, 9th September, 12.30pm to 2pm Irish Time. Marking the International Day to Protect Education from Attack and in light of a global spike in attacks on education, the event will highlight the urgent need to safeguard education in emergencies and conflict. Our distinguished speakers will introduce the topic, explore legal protections, highlight international efforts to protect education, and spotlight specific country situations. Confirmed speakers include representatives of the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack (GCPEA) and Concern Worldwide. (6) Outreach and Emergency Preparedness Officer - 14 September

This role is responsible for building capacity among staff, volunteers, and community partners, developing impactful projects in collaboration with fundraising teams, and supporting emergency response coordination. The postholder will also provide targeted support to branch teams, administer flood scheme operations, and assist in the implementation of preparedness and evaluation processes, contributing to the Irish Red Cross’s mission of resilient, community-driven humanitarian action. The ongoing regular work additionally involves engaging and supporting volunteers with broadening and deepening the quality of their volunteer experience as well as with their compliance-related engagements with head office. (7) Plan International Ireland: Desk Officer – Irish Aid Unit - 14 September

Plan International Ireland is looking for a Desk Officer to join the Irish Aid Unit, with a focus on managing the humanitarian funding streams within our Irish Aid ICSP programme. The role involves close coordination with Plan Country Offices to ensure effective grant implementation and strong donor compliance. The Desk Officer will also contribute to funding proposals and support strategic country-level planning. Fluency in French is essential to effectively support our work in French-speaking countries. (8) Children in Crossfire: Global Citizenship Education (GCE) Programme Coordinator - 3 September

Children in Crossfire is an International Development organisation based in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland that works to promote and protect the rights of children who are caught in the crossfire of extreme poverty. The GCE Programme Coordinator will be responsible for continuing to advance and implement Children in Crossfire’s GCE strategy across Ireland, by bringing the programme of work to scale and working in close partnership with relevant key stakeholders within the GCE sector. The successful candidate must have a minimum of 2 years’ paid work experience in delivering GCE programmes in either formal or informal settings as well as demonstrable knowledge of GCE, international development, and issues of global justice. (9) Misean Cara: Manager of Learning & Capacity Strengthening for Members - 10 September

The Learning and Capacity Strengthening (L&CS) Manager position plays a key role in promoting evidence-based learning within Misean Cara and among its members. Supported by the Learning and Development Team and working in collaboration with other teams in Misean Cara, the Manager oversees learning, monitoring, evaluation and research initiatives that enhance the development work of Misean Cara and its members. The L&CS manager will lead Misean Cara’s locally led development approach. The L&CS Manager is a member of the senior management team and contributes to overall strategic and operational decisions. (10) A Partnership with Africa: Chief Operating Officer - 5 September

A Partnership with Africa is looking for a Chief Operating Officer who can be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the organization and support the CEO in shaping and executing APA’s strategic plan and organisational priorities. The postholder will oversee core functions including finance, risk management, compliance, human resources, and governance support. Volunteering Opportunities

(1) CBM Ireland: Learning from Ireland’s use of the Disability DAC marker - 4 September

In follow-up to the Dóchas Disability Working Group annual dialogue on the 15th May, CBM Ireland has commissioned Polly Meeks to undertake a case study on Ireland’s reporting to the OECD DAC on the Disability Inclusion Policy Marker. The case study will focus on elements of Irish Aid’s data and also the data of a number of Irish INGOs. The case study will explore how the policy marker is applied, its challenges and also its strengths. This research is coming at a time when the Disability DAC marker is evolving in its use, and now more than ever, the need for better data on disability in aid is critical. We are seeking volunteers to be part of this case study. If you volunteer, you will be part of a dialogue for learning and for helping shape a better understanding of the use of the marker in your work and, in doing so, increase disability inclusion. (1) NYCI: NUI Certificate Course in Global Youth Work and Development Education - 22 September

Are you concerned about some of the big issues of our time such as climate change, global conflict, migration, poverty, racism, hunger, and right-wing extremism? (2) IDEA: The ABC of Global Citizenship Education 2025 - 17 September

Register for the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA)’s 2025 edition of the ABC of GCE Training! It will run in three parts, through a mixture of online and in-person sessions. This training is specifically designed for newcomers to Global Citizenship Education but is open to all. It was first run in 2023 in collaboration with Concern Worldwide’s Global Citizenship team, with the intention of supporting newcomers to GCE to deepen their understanding and develop their skills in Global Citizenship Education delivery. It will also be useful for anyone who wishes to refresh their Global Citizenship Education skills. Find out more here.

(1) ECO-UNESCO: Registrations Now Open for the 2026 Young Environmentalist Awards - 7 November

ECO-UNESCO is calling on schools, youth groups, families, and community organisations across Ireland to register for the 27th annual Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA). Open to young people aged 10–18 working in groups of two or more, the free programme supports participants to create and lead environmental action projects in categories such as Biodiversity, Waste, and ECO-Health & Wellbeing. Teachers and youth leaders receive free resources and mentoring from the YEA team, and finalists present their work at national showcase events. Find out more here.

(2) Comhlámh: Open letter on the Hague Group - 10 September

Comhlámh and Afri invite civil society organisations to join their appeal calling on the Irish Government to formally join the Hague Group, a coalition of nations pledged to uphold international law. Organisations are asked to add their name to the Civil Society Open letter by 10 September. Find out more here.

(3) DSAI: Call for Panels, Papers, Posters - 30 September

We invite proposals for panels and abstract/paper and poster submission for Development Studies Association (DSA Ireland) annual conference, ‘Development in the Interregnum: Past, Present, and Future(s)’ at Trinity College Dublin on 15th & 16th January 2026. Submission deadline is 30th September 2025. We welcome participation from scholars across disciplines including development studies, international and global studies, geography, political science, sociology, anthropology, and other cognate social sciences. Also welcome are activist and practitioner led research contributions and transdisciplinary research collaborative outputs. Please refer to guidelines here.

(4) Carmichael: Carmichael closing applications for the Good Governance Awards 2025 - 11 September

Any nonprofit organisation in Ireland, whether a charity, company, sports club or community association, can enter its annual report and financial statements into the Awards for free and it will receive individual feedback to help improve future annual reports. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on November 19th. Nonprofits with an annual income of less than €100,000 win 1 free place on a training course of their choice for entering the awards and win 2 additional training places if they are shortlisted to win.
