(1) Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade: African Economic Developments and Opportunities - 7 November

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has the pleasure of inviting you to an online discussion this Friday featuring three leading economists from across Africa to discuss economic developments, challenges and opportunities facing the continent.Taking part in the discussion will be: Dr Eleni Yitbarek, Senior Lecturer at the University of Pretoria, Dr Dale Mudenda, Lecturer at the University of Zambia and Chinwe Egwim, Chief Economist with experience across a variety of senior banking roles in Nigeria. (2) Maynooth University: Launch of new Centre for Global Development - 13 November

Launch of new Centre for Global Development at Maynooth University in Renehan Hall, Maynooth University Old Campus on Thursday 13th November from 2pm - 4pm. Featuring international guest speakers John Ging, CEO of the Famine Relief Fund and Former Director of Operations at OCHA and of UNRWA in the Gaza Strip, Reylynne Dela Paz, Advocacy and Campaigns Manager of CIVICUS and Jane-Ann McKenna, CEO of Dóchas as well as others involved in global development in Ireland, the seminar asks 'What's Next for Global Development? Please RSVP by email to internationaldevelopment(at)mu.ie.

(3) Irish Global Health Network: IGHNxEU – Empowering Women for a Healthier Europe- 14 November

(4)  Irish Red Cross: International Humanitarian Law Conference "“From Commitments to Action: Protecting Humanity in Crisis” - 6 November

Irish Red Cross will host its annual International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Conference on 6th November from 9:30am-1pm. The conference will discuss current challenges to the protection of civilians, examining the gap between States’ commitments to IHL and the realities faced by those in armed conflict. It will feature speeches from Minister of State Neale Richmond, and Dana Abu Kosh, IHL Coordinator for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, followed by a panel discussion with expert practitioners. (5) Irish Forum for International Agricultural Development (IFIAD): Annual Conference – Rethinking Agricultural Trade for Food Security and Nutrition - 20 November

(9) Global Action Plan: Hospicing Modernity Book Circle - 19 November

Following on from GAP’s recent Hospicing Modernity course, Róisín Dexter and Sarah-Jane Cullinane will be hosting a Hospicing Modernity Book Circle, starting November 19th. Over three months of online discussions and one in-person meeting, this group will collectively a book that explores the polycrisis we are living in and courageously guides us to search deep and wide, in uncomfortable and beautiful places, to find our steps forward together. (1) IDEA: Improving Your Results Framework Workshop - 18 November

This workshop is part of the Irish Development Education Association (IDEA)’s support for the Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education Grants Round. This session will be led by Elaine Mahon, IDEA and Susan Gallwey, as an Individual member, IDEA. This session is focused on supporting those who are familiar with Results Frameworks and have begun work on the Results Framework for their application. This will take place on Tuesday, 18 November, 10.00am - 12.00pm, online. As in recent years, this year we also invite any other actors who are not yet members of IDEA to these training events. Calls for Tender

(1) NYCI: Youth 2030 Global Youth Work Programme - 21 November

The National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) is seeking an independent evaluator, on a consultancy basis, to evaluate the impact of the Youth 2030 Global Youth Work Programme since 2021 and to inform the strategic direction of the Programme for the next 5 years (2027 – 2032). Find out more here.

Courses and Training

(1) Alice PR: Alice Academy for Activists - 12 November

Alice Academy for Activists, a free residential bootcamp that equips activists with strategic campaigning skills is now open for applications. If you know someone with an idea that might just change the world – or who’s working on a campaign to improve people’s lives – please encourage them to apply. Successful applicants will be notified in early December and, over the course of four days in January, they'll be immersed in topics such as strategy and planning; community organising and coalition-building; fundraising; political engagement; and media relations. (2) IDEA: Grants Clinic for Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education Funding Applications - 13 November

The Irish Development Education Association (IDEA)’s first training event supporting the Irish Aid Global Citizenship Education Grants Round is a Grants Clinic, focusing on the application form. It will be facilitated by Bobby McCormack, CEO of Development Perspectives and Chairperson of the IDEA National Council, along with Elaine Mahon, IDEA. This will take place on Thursday, 13 November, 09.30am – 11.30am, online. As in recent years, we are also inviting any other actors who are not yet members of IDEA to these training events. To make this training as useful as possible for all attending, please make sure that you have a copy of any previous application form you have worked on relating to the Irish Aid GCE grants available to you during the session. (3) Trinity College Dublin: Global Masters in Development Practice (MDP) - 1 June 2026

Established in 2009 following recommendations from the International Commission on Education for Sustainable Development Practice, the Global Masters in Development Practice (MDP) is a world-leading and uniquely innovative interdisciplinary graduate degree programme that blends health, natural, social, and management sciences--combined with cross-sectoral professional field training and placements to better understand international development problems and apply best practices.
