Upcoming Events and Conferences
(1) DCU: Conference on the Role of the Council of Europe in the pursuit of Peace, Justice & Accountability in Ukraine - 27 February
The Dublin European Law Institute at Dublin City University (DCU) in partnership with the Department of Foreign Affairs is organising a high-level conference on The Role of the Council of Europe in the pursuit of Peace, Justice & Accountability in Ukraine on 27 February at DCU and online. Amongst the high-level speakers at the Conference include Deputy Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Bjørn Berge, Commissioner for Human Rights, Michael O'Flaherty, former President of the European Court of Human Rights, Síofra O'Leary as well as many other legal, and academic and civil society experts. (2) Plan Ireland: International Women's Day Concert for Girls and Women in Crisis - 9 March
To mark International Women’s Day this year, Plan International Ireland is staging an intimate and inspiring afternoon of music and song in support of girls and young women in crisis. The event will take place at The Grand Social, Dublin from 4 PM–7 PM and will feature a host of talented and inspirational female singer-songwriters and musicians, including Krea (of Wyvern Lingo), Sweet Jayne, Katie Phelan, Kathy Long and members of the all-female jazz ensemble Jazzabelles. (3) ActionAid: Women and Conflict Event - 6 March
The Women and Conflict event will highlight the disproportionate impact that conflict has on women and girls globally, as well as their crucial role in peacebuilding and conflict resolution. We’ll be joined by an amazing panel of speakers. Registration is essential, and we are excited to have you with us as we explore how women and girls are at the forefront of creating sustainable solutions and peace in times of crisis. (4) The Wheel: Leadership Academy Breakfast Club - 6 March
Many leaders have mentors who have supported their journeys, or people they look up to, but what role can leaders play for people coming behind them? This month we are joined by Damien Quinn, Founder of Spéire Nua, and Dr. Jennifer Okeke, Chair of the National Womens Council and the Anti-Trafficking Coordinator with the Immigrant Council of Ireland. (5) Self Help Africa: International Women's Day webinar - 6 March
The event will focus on this year’s IWD theme: ‘For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment’ and will feature four young women, from Ethiopia, Nigeria, Morocco and Ireland (via Somalia), sharing their unique stories and testimonies, covering a range of topics including climate activism, gender, nutrition and the role of women in agriculture. (6) Compliance and Legal Administrator - 3 March
Working as a key part of the Compliance and Legal (C&L) Team, the Administrator role will provide support across the C&L area as required. Primarily, this will involve supporting the HR Manager and National Safeguarding Manager with administrative duties such as updating employee records and contract renewals, preparing basic reports, and pre and post-safeguarding training administration. (7) Disaster and Emergency Programme Manager - 24 February
The Disaster and Emergency Manager plays a crucial role in developing and implementing Irish Red Cross's disaster preparedness, climate adaptation, and emergency response strategies domestically. This position based in Ireland contributes to fundraising efforts, facilitates the implementation of IFRC's Preparedness for Effective Response (PER) process, coordinates with domestic preparedness, response and recovery actors, manages disaster-related projects and responses. Working to build and support branch capacity in disaster preparedness, climate adaptation, and emergency response, the role will focus on the achievement of Irish Red Cross desired Disaster and Emergency outcomes in its 2025-2030 Strategy. (8) Misean Cara: Grants Officer - 21 February
We are currently recruiting a Grants Officer to join our Donor Engagement Team. The Grants Officer will play an integral part in ensuring that Misean Cara meets its ambitious fundraising targets each year, which in turn helps Misean Cara and its members achieve their goals to improve the lives of millions of the most marginalised people across the world. The Grants Officer is responsible for researching, developing and writing successful grant applications to trusts, foundations and institutional donors who align with Misean Cara values. (9) SeeBeyondBorders Ireland: Recruiting Trustees - 4 March
SeeBeyondBorders Ireland is dedicated to improving primary education in Cambodia. Our partner organisation, SeeBeyondBorders Cambodia is locally led and delivers evidence-based teacher training to embed best practices in Cambodian public schools. (11) World Vision Ireland: Philanthropy and Church Engagement Manager - 21 February
World Vision Ireland is looking for a Philanthropy and Church Engagement Manager who will develop warm and fruitful relationships with Major Donors and key church network leaders in Dublin and Nationally. (12) Ifrah Foundation: Executive Director - 21 February
The Executive Director is responsible for the leadership, management and direction of Ifrah Foundation. The role is accountable for the overall performance of the organisation in implementing the Board’s strategy. The Executive Director will lead on the development, funding, and delivery of a strategy to support Ifrah’s advocacy for Somalia to create the infrastructure to support the eradication of FGM by 2035. Inherent in realising this will be maintenance of corporate structure, financial stability, nurturing and expanding relationships with programme partners, NGOs, government and civil society organisations and generating the funds needed to support Ifrah Foundation programmes and operational costs. (1) A partnership project with Ballyfermot College of Further Education, supported by the Embassy of Ireland, Zambia: Project Evaluator for ‘Establishing a Centre for the Creative Arts at Evelyn Hone College, Lusaka - 24 February
City of Dublin ETB seeks a consultant to evaluate two partnership projects between BCFE, City of Dublin FET College, Ballyfermot, Southwest Campus, and Evelyn Hone College, Lusaka, Zambia: ‘1. Audio & Music Technology – Supporting Vocational Education and the Creative Economy in Zambia’, 2. Establishing a Centre for the Creative Arts at Evelyn Hone College.' The projects developed Zambia’s first Audio & Music Technology Diploma and three new qualifications in Creative Music Performance, Animation, and Graphic Design. The evaluation will assess design, impact, sustainability, gender inclusion, industry collaboration, curriculum development, and overall contributions to Zambia’s creative economy. Methods include document reviews, stakeholder interviews, and site visits. The final report will outline findings, lessons learned, and recommendations for future initiatives. (2) CBM Ireland: Multiple Calls for Funding Proposals - 7 March
CBM Ireland, together with CAN Europe are very excited to have launched a call for funding proposals around climate justice and just transition in the context of our new Funding Fairer Futures project. Together with ECOLISE, WECF, Generation Climate Europe and CBM Ireland, this call launched across 5 different funds:
The Feminist Climate Action Fund, led by WECF, will fund (eco)feminist organisations in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Spain, and Sweden. Find out more here.

(3) ActionAid: Consultancy: Research and Policy Recommendations - 25 February
ActionAid Ireland is seeking a consultant to conduct research and develop policy recommendations on the right to housing for lone parents transitioning from international protection. The consultant will produce participatory research highlighting systemic barriers and policy gaps that impact lone parents as they move from Direct Provision to private accommodation. This work will inform evidence-based recommendations for policy change. The consultant will work closely with an advisory board of lone parents, ensuring their lived experiences shape the research and advocacy. The study will also draw on best practices from Ireland and internationally, assessing policy frameworks and identifying areas for reform. Closing date: 25 February. Find out more here.

(1) Plan Ireland: Communications and Fundraising Intern - 3 March
Sitting within the Fundraising and Communications Department you will learn about the daily workings of a busy fundraising and communications team. From reviewing research and event co-ordination, to proof reading and data entry, you will provide assistance to the team across various areas including Marketing, Communications, Fundraising and Digital Media. This role would suit someone who is creative with an outstanding attention to detail and an eagerness to learn the internal workings of a leading International Development Organisation that uses a human rights based approach to address the root causes of poverty around the world. Courses and Training
(1) Harvard Humanitarian Initiative: Urban Humanitarian Emergencies Course - 8 - 11 July
Humanitarian organizations, international agencies and governments increasingly find themselves working in urban crisis contexts. Agencies face considerable challenges and some potential advantages in these complex urban environments. The Urban Humanitarian Emergencies Course is a four-day summer course organized by the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative to train humanitarian professionals on current issues, challenges and good practices involved in urban humanitarian emergencies. The course faculty and visiting experts are experienced in humanitarian training with on-the-ground experience with humanitarian crises in urban areas. Find out more and register here.
(2) Law Society of Ireland: Diploma in Director Skills and Duties - 4 March
The new Diploma in Director Skills and Duties aims to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the skills needed to thrive as a non-executive director or charitable trustee. The diploma provides an overview of these rewarding roles as well as practical guidance on the essential elements of corporate governance, including fiduciary duties, understanding and investigating financial, ESG and other internal reports and the due diligence that should be carried out prior to accepting a role. In addition, a crisis management module will help participants to prepare, respond and recover in the face of an urgent organisational issue. The course will take place in March. (3) Development Perspectives: SDG Advocate Training 2025 - 10 March
The 2025 SDG Advocate Training is a 7-month project that offers 23 Adult and Community Educators an opportunity to deepen their understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through Global Citizenship Education and be supported in the design and implementation of informed SDG Action Project within their practice. (4) Eurocheck Security Consultants: Hostile Environment Course - 28 February
The course is suitable for individuals who are currently working or are going to work in medium to high-risk areas. They will help ensure that you keep yourself and those you are working with safer. In addition to the normal security subjects covered in the security awareness courses, this course includes sessions on kidnap, landmines, trauma, sexual assault. The course also includes pre-course reading, exercises and role plays. Our main courses are conducted in Kildare but we can also run short bespoke courses at your location or via our online hostile environment and security awareness courses. (5) University of Galway: International Development Practice - 1 July
The MA in International Development Practice (MIDP) in the University of Galway focuses on the wide-ranging social, economic, political and environmental challenges of our rapidly changing world. Spanning global concerns, from sustainable development and climate action, gender equality, food security and alleviating poverty, this MA enables you to develop your capacities to understand and engage with both theories and practices relating to international development, with a strong emphasis on inter-disciplinarity and skills needed to work in the sector. (1) Irish Rule of Law International (IRLI): Horsehair Wigs Podcast with Nikki Reisch, CIEL
The latest podcast episode from Irish Rule of Law International explores the historic climate hearings that took place last December at the International Court of Justice with Nikki Reisch, Director of Climate and Energy (CIEL). Nikki shares her first-hand account of the moving testimonies from people from climate-vulnerable nations from long-standing legal obligations rooted in international law to the moral and ethical responsibilities of nations, Reisch believes the case goes well beyond the Paris Agreement, reached at UN climate talks in 2015, to limit global heat to 1.5°C degrees.
