Join Dóchas on Wednesday 28 April from 11.30am – 1pm for an overview of the Worldview project research to date.
The session will be introduced by Minister of State for Overseas Development and Diaspora, Colm Brophy TD, and followed by an interactive panel discussion with sector experts including:
- Karen Smyth, Head of Campaign Marketing, Trócaire
- Bulelani Mfaco, PR, Advocacy, Public Policy & Spokesperson, MASI - The Movement of Asylum Seekers in Ireland
- Eamon Sharkey, Director of Fundraising and Marketing, GOAL
The Worldview’s 2021 baseline research found that, although the Irish public are very concerned about global poverty (75%) and generally supportive of overseas development aid (79%) and the Government’s ODA budget (77%), significant misconceptions about the main drivers of global poverty and inequality and misunderstandings about how aid is administered are leading to low levels of trust in overseas development NGOs (27%).
Together, we will unpack and explore what these findings mean for the sector and the implications they will have on how we communicate, engage and fundraise with the Irish public.
